Hours:                                   8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday

Professional administrative and technical work ensuring consistent and proper application of the County Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) to projects submitted to the Building Division for review and permitting. It requires familiarity with the different stages of Zoning application processes, and those applications that are subject to the Building Permit process. Responsible for the coordination between Zoning and Building Divisions for Zoning Code related issues. Work is performed with considerable independence within the scope of professional methods and procedures and is reviewed by the Building Official and Zoning Director through written and verbal representations such as regular meetings, reports and observation of work product. Employee independently performs advanced reviews of the full range of land development applications including rezonings, conditional/requested uses, variances, special permits, plats, master plans, site plans, landscape plans, architectural elevations/plans, building plans, and related plans and documents. Work involves analyzing complex site plans based upon their compliance with the ULDC requirements and the functional relationships among their internal and external elements such as structures, signage, vehicular use areas, on-site and off-site improvements, pedestrian movement, landscaping, aesthetic quality, environmental conditions and other appropriate design elements. May supervise subordinates. Work requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment and work is reviewed by a professional superior through reports, conferences and observation of results obtained.


Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban/Regional Planning or closely related design field; minimum of three (3) years of experience involving the enforcement of land development codes and ordinances.

PREFERENCE FOR THREE (3) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH:  Conducting oral presentations at public hearings/citizen review committees/advisory boards; report writing. Also desirable:  Current membership the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and   National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB); related Master’s Degree.
