Position: Park Planner

Salary: $54,772.02 – $103,280.74


This is responsible professional work in design, development, and planning of City Parks, open space areas, and recreational facility projects.  This position is not routine, clerical or ministerial nature and requires the exercise of independent judgment.  Work involves performance of specialized technical work in park design and planning.  Independent judgment is exercised in the application of professional techniques and principles to the basic problem of designing and redesigning parks to meet the current needs of the citizen.  Assignments are received from the Department Director, or designee, who reviews work through consultation and analysis of work performed.  Supervision may be exercised over a small group of maintenance, clerical, or other personnel.



A Valid Driver’s License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E). Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning & Design, Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year experience in the planning and design of large and complex municipal parks. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) proficiency highly desirable.
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a Bachelor’s degree in an aforementioned or closely related field.
