Assistant Professor of Sociology Miranda Waggoner discusses how public health policy that addresses pressing population health problems often overlooks the particular needs of women and children and can lead to inadequate development of vital social and health programs to meet those needs.

Policy Pub is the informative social series of topical talks and discussions presented by the Florida State University College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. The series is hosted by Backwoods Bistro, a popular Tallahassee restaurant and bar, where the public can sit comfortably at tables, order from the menu, and hear brief (10-15 minute), plain-language presentations by faculty from the college. After the talk, people can ask questions and join the discussion of the topic at hand. The Pub gatherings are usually over by 6:30, although attendees have been known to linger and continue the discussion among themselves.
