Beginning Oct. 8: Vote for APA Florida’s Great Places in Florida – Peoples’ Choice Award votng will take place Oct. 8-19, with the winner being announced at the end of the month.
Oct. 26: APA Florida and AARP Florida are co-hosting a webinar for the Planners Webcast Consortium on How to Mobilize and Turn Volunteers Into Leaders in Your Community.

Oct. 1-5: Week of events with 8 80 Cities Founder Gil Penalosa in Tallahassee. Free event on Oct. 3 @ FSU.
ORLANDO METRO SECTION
Monthlong: The City of St. Cloud will be hosting a number of activities throughout the month of October, including a “Housing Matters!” art competition for K-12 students.
FIRST COAST SECTION
Oct. 17: The APA Florida First Coast Section is cosponsoring the North Florida Safe Street Summit in St. Augustine.
SUN CAOST SECTION
Oct. 11: Urban Planning & LGBTQ Communities: Ybor’s Role in a Diverse Tampa Bay. The Section, USF MURP, and the USF Student Planning Organization are celebrating National Community Planning Month and National Coming Out Day with a focus on LGBTQ influence in planning and the GaYbor District (Ybor City LGBTQ neighborhood).
Oct. 17: Missing Middle Housing Session. The Section is partnering with FCCMA and Forward Pinellas to bring together city managers, elected officials, planners and the public to discuss solutions for providing the “Missing Middle” type of housing.
Oct. 24: Planning Healthy Places Event. The Section is partnering with the US Green Building Council – Florida Chapter to plan a joint event focusing on planning for healthy communities.
Oct. 25: The Planning Commission in Hillsborough County will once again hold their Planning and Design Awards.
