The Sun Coast Section is run by volunteer members who donate their time, energy and talents to help ensure that members are provided with first-rate professional development and networking opportunities.
We are always looking for interested members who are willing to volunteer their time. No offer of assistance is too big or small! Please contact us if you’d like to get involved.
The Section is governed in accordance with our Bylaws, with Section leadership structured as follows:
1. The Sun Coast Executive Committee (EC), consisting of elected officers (voting members) of the Section (including Area Directors) and ad hoc appointees (non-voting members).
2. The Area Directors Committee, consisting of elected Area Directors who represent each of the seven counties within the Section. Area Directors are charged with being the primary point of contact between their members and the EC and additionally, are responsible for overseeing the implementation of special projects.
3. The Legislative Advisory Committee, consists of volunteer members appointed by the EC. This Committee is chaired by a volunteer (appointed by the Section Chair) who coordinates committee member response and, in conjunction with the EC, defines our Section’s legislative positions. This Committee’s chair also serves as the Section Appointee to the APA Florida Legislative Policy Committee which meets annually in Tallahassee, Florida before the start of each legislative session.
4. The Young Planners Group (YPG), is an ad hoc committee of APA Florida, and its members consist of new professionals from sections across the state. Each section has a YPG Ambassador appointed by the President of APA Florida. This Ambassador interfaces with the EC on matters concerning these members of our Section.
