Welcome to the Sun Coast Section! We are a division of the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA). Our goal is to provide our diverse membership with an equally diverse range of professional development, networking and other opportunities. $50 – Lecture + ReceptionJoin your fellow planners from across the Tampa Bay area to celebrate the best and brightest accomplishments in the planning community.
In partnership with the Live Move Student Group at the University of South Florida, the Section is pleased to host a special guest lecture featuring Gil Penalosa. Gil is the former Commissioner of Parks for the City of Bogota and founder of the “open streets” movement. The lecture will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall at the Tampa Museum of Art. Light refreshments will be served.
Following the lecture, please join us for the Section’s Annual Awards Reception on the patio overlooking the beautiful Tampa Riverwalk. The following awards will be announced and celebrated:
- Award of Excellence – Honoring an organization, initiative, planning process or project that has been conceived or implemented within the last three years.
- Distinguished Service – Honoring a planning professional or community member who has made significant contributions to the community over an extended period of time.
- Planner of the Year – Honoring a planning professional who has made significant contributions to the community or planning profession over the past year.
Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Cash bar will be available throughout the evening.

Sun Coast Section elections were sent out on 8:00 p.m. on 7/30/2015. If you did not receive your ballot please contact James Ratliff or Stephen Benson for assistance.
Please keep in mind that ballots are only sent to the email address of those members who are APA members. It’s important to keep your email up to date with APA since our official voter eligibility list is based upon their information. Also, if you have unsubscribed from our emails or opted out of receiving mail from organizations who use constant contact you will not receive a ballot unless you contact us in a timely manner.
