AICP Continuing Professional Development Program (CPDP)

All members of The American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) are encouraged to participate in continuing education as a basic professional responsibility. The AICP Continuing Professional Development Program (CPDP) provides the mechanism to meet this professional obligation on a voluntary basis. More and more professional organizations have mandatory continuing education, either as a requirement of membership renewal or licensing retention. Because of the diversity of planning and the general absence of state licensing, AICP's CPDP is voluntary. This does not mean that there is any less of an obligation to participate in continuing education. CPDP's primary purpose is to encourage all certified planners to pursue systematic programs of continuing education. CPDP is more than a record keeping and documentation system. It also promotes the quality and availability of continuing education opportunities for planners throughout the United States.

For information regarding maintenance of your AICP certification, see the APA website.

For information on AICP’s on-line record keeping system and the procedure for submission of logs, please visit www.planning.org/cpdp.
